George William Spriestersbach was born May 9, 1892 in Macon City, Missouri and died Feb 9, 1958 in Montebello, California.
The location opened December 14,1937 as the New Vogue Theatre, remodeled by architect S. Charles Lee. The decoration of the theater had been done by the Robert Powers Studio, per the December 18, 1937 issue of Boxoffice Magazine. It operated as a second-run budget house that could seat 543. It's also been known as the Vogue and the Vogue Fine Arts. It was owned by Alfred L. Olander, who also owned the Garmar, also found on Cinema Treasures. The Vogue ran through at least 1966. The last mention of the Vogue Theater found in the LA Times movie listings is from June 11, 1966 for Mary Poppins. The earliest ad is from August 26, 1938 for "Fast Company" and "Always Goodbye."
In the early 70s the location was a travel agency, Montebello Travel.
In 2008, it became a hair salon, Salon Maxx.
